There’s nothing worse than having to listen to kids on the schoolyard talk rubbish about what series is better: Call of Duty or Battlefield. Anyone with a brain knows both of these series suck compared to Counter Strike, but that’s another story for another day. While kids on a playground may argue with each other until the end of the day, Laura Miele, EA global publishing boss doesn’t really worry about the supposed ‘rivalry’ between the two giants.
“I have always just thought that healthy competition in our industry is fun,” said Laura to Gamesindustry.biz. “We’re a game industry… I genuinely believe that the more great content that our players have and that the industry has then the healthier the industry is and the better it all is.”
”So I welcome the competitive challenge, but I also have a lot of respect for what our competitors do when new games come to market. I think it’s just a fun competition and I think our fans and our players love to play it up. That’s kind of the nature of our industry as the entertainment category that we’re in.”
The rivalry between Call of Duty and Battlefield will be significantly heated compared to other previous years. With Call of Duty fans receiving Infinity Warfare this year, almost the exact opposite of what they actually wanted which is something more akin to Battlefield 1, we’ll see how this reflects in the sales numbers near the end of the year.
