UPDATE: During a Q&A session at the end of the Investor conference, CD Projekt revealed that it’s interested in VR, with the team having a few development kits in the studio at the moment, but they’re looking to see how it develops as it believes the tech is in “beta” right now. If VR enhances the experience or adds to the story of its games, CD Projekt will use it for future projects.
Original Story: During CD Projekt’s FY 2015 financial conference call, the company revealed that it plans to work on a new video game format in 2016, previously unexplored by the studio, which could mean that the developer is planning to work on a VR project related to the Witcher, or it could be for an entirely different IP.
The other IP we know that is in development at CD projekt is Cyberpunk 2077, which is an upcoming Action RPG based on the Cyberpunk series of tabletop games. Could VR be an option for it when it releases in 2017?
The developer wouldn’t explain what the nature of the project was in the investor’s conference today, but it did say that we will learn more about it soon.
