As promised a few days ago, Bethesda has unveiled some of the new downloadable content coming in the next few months.
The first DLC is Automatron, in which the player deals with a new villain called the Mechanist, who has unleashed a horde of evil robots into the Commonwealth including the devious Robobrain. The DLC also allows players to build their own robot companions by hunting the rogue bots down and harvesting their parts. ”Choose from hundreds of mods; mixing limbs, armor, abilities, and weapons like the all-new lightning chain gun. Even customize their paint schemes and choose their voices!” One has to wonder how Cogsworth will feel about that. Automatron is due to be released in March.
Coming in April is the Wasteland Workshop, where players can design and set cages to capture live creatures from raiders to Deathclaws - and then tame them. Players can then have them fight each other, Pokemon-style, or have them go after their own settlers. The DLC also adds tons of new content for settlements, such as nixi tube lighting, letter kits, taxidermy and so on.
Finally, May will feature the Far Harbor DLC. In this expansion, players will find themselves off the coast of Maine on the island of Far Harbor. On the isle, synths, the Children of Atom, and the local townspeople are getting ready to fight each other, and it’s up to the player to settle matters, using any method they wish to deal with it. According to Bethesda, ”Far Harbor features the largest landmass for an add-on that we’ve ever created, filled with new faction quests, settlements, lethal creatures and dungeons.” The DLC will also include new, higher-level armor and weapons.
Naturally, players who already own the Fallout 4 Season Pass will get this content free, and Bethesda promises much more DLC in the coming year beyond May. Bethesda is also offering players a chance to try out the aforementioned content ahead of time if they register for the beta here. The beta is the full version (complete with achievements) and those participating will not have to purchase the add-on.
