Last night, Paradox Interactive teased an announcement of something new coming to GameWatcher’s Game of the Year 2015, Cities Skylines. Today, a new wintry expansion for the game has been announced: Snowfall.
As the name implies, the expansion adds a new temperature mechanic to the game ”that will have residents bundling up for warmth when the weather outside is frightful.” Players will face new challenges such as making sure that when the temperature drops, the city’s infrastructure will be able to handle it.
Heating won’t be the only issue, of course. When the snow falls, cities better have the snowplows on call as well. They will also have additional public transportation options, including all-weather trams. Not everything having to do with winter is bad, as there will also be new winter parks and cold weather-related landmarks.
All Cities Skylines owners will get a free update related to Snowfall, too. ”Cosmetic weather, composed of rain and fog, will be added to Cities: Skylines as part of a free update, along with other features to be announced soon,” promises Paradox Interactive.
