NCSoft has announced that the Western launch of the Korean action-MMO Blade & Soul has been a resounding success since its launch last week on the 19th January. The game has already hit the 1 million concurrent player mark.
Blade & Soul debuted in Korea in 2012, later launching in China. With the launch last Tuesday, the game experinced ”a surge of players online to experience the epic story of revenge and innovative combat system of this free-to-play game.” NCSoft is also promising that there will be a ”regular cadence” of downloadable content.
The wuxia-inspired MMO distinguishes itself from other MMO’s with its real-time melee combat action that requires precise timing and skill. Players can choose from four races and 10 classes, with detailed character customization. For more in-depth info about the game, GameWatcher’s Mark Pelkington wrote an extended preview.
