Going forward with their announcement of an announcement, Atlus have revealed the name of their new studio and the game its team will be working on.
Studio Zero have begun work on what it currently only being referred to as 'Project Re Fantasy' - a new JRPG from Katsura Hashino; who, as mentioned earlier, comes from directing Atlus' massive Persona series.
The game itself is still shrouded in a fog of mystery. Considering the team have likely only recently been brought together, there's little need to talk about the game in too much detail. We won't be seeing it on store shelves for a number of years, at least. But with the general concept likely nailed down already, there group shared a few pieces of concept art to show Hashino and his team are serious about going back on their usual 'High School' setting to the more traditional fantasy land.
There's a GOG sale going on, if you've exhausted Steam's offerings.
Speaking to GamesBeat, Hashino said; “We take seriously this goal of creating a game with the care and detail expected by the people who love Atlus games and home console games,". “We haven’t determined yet what platform our new game will be, and I imagine this project will take a long time until completion. But we’ll be working hard at this challenge to truly deliver something new and incredible for all our fans.”
Over all, it's reassuring to see Atlus still adamant in the JRPG market that isn't nearly as strong as it once was. The company knows there's still a die hard audience for their product, and that's just what they're going to provide.
