We haven’t even seen a second of Watch Dogs 2 yet, and it’s already time to talk about graphics and PC feature compatibility. Woo! Crunchy numbers.
As reported by financial site the Country Caller, during an AMD event at GDC, Ubisoft took to the stage to announce that Watch Dogs 2 would feature DirectX12 support. That’s honestly not especially surprising–yes, upcoming, big-budget games will feature the next bit of graphical technology.
What’s more interesting is seeing Ubisoft on an AMD stage. Nvidia has of course been very aggressive about partnering with game developers to ensure enhanced visual effects and performance on GeForce cards, though if you’re of a more cynical mind, you might say that performance on other chipsets was being hamstrung. Is this a hint of AMD going after similar deals?
I liked Watch Dogs more than most, but it certainly wasn’t an especially remarkable game, especially on PC where it suffered from serious stuttering issues at launch. Perhaps the sequel will improve on both the gameplay and graphical features. We can only hope.
