As the Emerald Nightmare finally opens its corrupt doors, as do the bloodthirsty heroes of the of Horde and Alliance. The race to a world first clear has begun.
Through typical MMORPG fashion, the release of a new raid scenario means every available group begins to devour crazy hours to claiming ‘World First’ clears of both individual boss encounters and the slaughterhouse as a whole.
The recent release of the ‘Mythic’ difficulty of ‘Emerald Nightmare’ means just that - hundreds of pre-formed, devoted players rushing through the portal to repeatedly slam their faces against increasingly difficult enemies for hours upon hours every day until all the gloat-worthy accolades are gone.
Despite being technically further from the recommended equipment threshold for each fight, 4 of the 7 bosses have already seen the pointy end of a sword. Though hopefully the difficult spikes toward the end point will slow them down a little, it certainly won’t be the first time top-tier players manage to best an MMO’s fine-tuning with sheer player skill.
Typically ‘Kill’ videos don’t surface as quickly during the World First spirnt with teams attempting to keep their place in the race by holding the secrets of the kill close to their chest. That, however, needn’t be an issue when numerous groups are squashing the bosses left, right and center. You can already watch a Mage put Nythendra down for the count.
At the time of writing, 5 groups across the US servers have reached the same point with 2 of these groups coming from the same server. Though only released in the region the following morning, a French group has already managed to down 2 of the new creatures. Hopefully the fifth boss halts progression a little before the battle is done and dusty be the week’s end.
Those interested in keeping tabs on the great race should frequent the <a href=”http://www.wowprogress.com/”WoWProgression</a> page. If you’re primarily watching out for the slow trickle of kill videos, the WoW subreddit is usually the best source.
