Through the piles of block and voxel-based building sims, Trion Worlds' own Trove is one we rarely seem to hear about. But with over 45,000 reviews on Steam, people are playing it. And the recent Snowfest update is for them.
Billing itself as more of an action MMO than a survival sim, Trove separates itself from the likes of Minecraft by focusing more on a player's individuality. Including even a class system, players are invited to either build a world from scratch or traverse the landscapes of its endlessly generated world containing enemies and items all conjured up by the fellow block affectionado.
Included in the month's Snowfest update is a threat to the very season itself. Introducing new seasonal quests to earn valuable rewards, it's the go-to strategy for those looking to build the elusive G.R.Y.P.H. 3000 mount.

But it won't be easy to piece together the mechanic flying motor. Hidden within the new 'Gift Dungeons' is the ironically named 'Ice Ice Baby' dragon boss. While having nothing to do with the G.R.Y.P.H mount, it has the chance of providing the Colourful Gift Carousel mount instead. Those still wishing for the dragon ride will need to find Flamotron Mk II and bring it to its knees to earn the Darknik Gears necessary for the build.
Trove is a free-to-play block-based MMO downloadable either from Steam or Trion Worlds' own 'Glyph' launcher. The same one used for their other games like Defiance and RIFT. Though it does include microtransations, most currencies can be earned through general in-game activities.
