Been wondering whether it's finally time for a system hardware upgrade as of late? If the minimum and recommended specs for Mass Effect: Andromeda stand tall, it may finally be time.
With all the fantastic titles coming out in the first quarter of a new year, there's certain th want to play them at their best. And Mass Effect: Andromeda may be the one to tip the scales.
Closing in on release, EA has issued what PC gamers should aim for and expect their hardware to take them in their latest space adventure. Build upon th FrostBite 3 engine that powers the well-optimized Battlefield One, the apparent specs don't quite match up with what you'd expect running in a similar environment.
Mass Effect: Andromeda Won't Recognize Your Mass Effect 3 Ending Choice
Reportardly required 16GB RAM, a beefy Core i7 4790 and a GPU like the RX 480 or GTX 1060 will net gamers just 30fps at 1080p on the game's 'high' settings - whereas those specs would nail around 100fps in the heavy action of Battlefield One on Ultra. Considering a healthy amount of PC gamers settle for nothing less than 60fps, this could be cause for concern and has left many wondering what is expected of their machines to max the title out on a modern 4K panel.
System scares aside, here's what you'll be wanting to match the usual minimum and recommended hardware guidelines;
Minimum Requirements
- CPU: Intel Core i5 3570 or AMD FX-6350
- Memory: 8 GB RAM
- GPU: Nvidia GTX 660 2GB, AMD Radeon 7850 2GB
- HDD: At least 55 GB of free space
Recommended Requirements
- CPU: Intel Core i7-4790 or AMD FX-8350
- Memory: 16 GB RAM
- GPU: NVIDIA GTX 1060 3GB, AMD RX 480 4GB
- HDD: At least 55 GB of free space
Revealed a few weeks ago, the recommended requirements didn't really surprise. Asking for a modern mid-range card is nothing special, but to now know that this is merely to enjoy playing the title at the same resolution we've been rocking for over a decade now at a lowest enjoyable framerate is rightfully cause for concern. Let's just hope EA's predictions are way off the mark.
Mass Effect: Andromeda releases March 21 in North America with Europe following two days later.
