When you take to the forums of a big brand game hoping to squeeze more info out of the developers, you never actually expect it to work. But Jeff Kaplan just arrived to stop the Overwatch hype in its tracks and set it on a new path.
Even before Sombra finally made her way out of an ARG that Blizzard promised they wouldn't pull again, word of another new Overwatch hero was making headlines: Doomfist.
Having similar hints all across the Overwatch world through map references and character mentions, the enigmatic hero began to gain more ground in the aftermath of E3 2016. When EA decided to rope Hollywood stars and musicians into playing a large-scale round of Battlefield 1 on-stream, one of the contestants - Terry Crews - left the event and immediately started to lap up typical PC gaming components after being stunned by the community.

As expected, one the community in question began to catch wind of this, Terry Crews started to become a big topic of conversation. A gateway and example of gaming's broader appeal. With his rig set up, Crews outlined the titles he'd play with his son; with Overwatch making the cut. It wasn't long after that Crews would make several attempts at coaxing Blizzard into casting him in the role of Doomfist. With news braking of Crews visiting the Anaheim campus, more fuel was added to proverbial fire that Doomfist would be the next hero to appear.
Throwing a spanner into the works, however, Jeff Kaplan was seemingly summoned to a post on the Blizzard forums theorizing more information. Simply stating "24 is not who you think it is", the Doomfist hype has swiftly moved onto figuring out who the next incoming hero could be. It's always a tumultuous ride with Overwatch. If you have any theories yourself, be sure to drop them down below. We're clueless.
