There's still a few months between us and The Surge. While it may very well be ready for release, you wouldn't want it to show up in the height of the Winter/Spring releases, would you?
Just like the Awards season for movies, we've entered a point of multiple big releases being just on the Horizon, and keeping The Surge back for a May release may very well just be the only way of giving it the breath of life - get it?
And with that, Hanger 13 and Focus Home Interactive need to keep up the game's momentum. Offering up another new video on their dedicated YouTube channel, we've been gifted a rather lengthy look at some uncut gameplay footage. 14 minutes of it, to be exact. If you're looking to channel your inner Star Wars Kid - albeit with better fashion sense - The Surge could be something for you.

Throughout the video, we're guided around the CREO complex by the game's lead designer Adam Hetenyi. With a handy metal bar in tow and some thick CREO-style mechanical body suit, we're taken on a tour of what it means to fight metal with metal. Taking a similar approach to recent melee action games like Dark Souls, The Surge is all about picking your battles and having a little patience in the flurries you dish out. Check your corners before the metal constructs of the facility jump out at you, and use a mix of horizontal and vertical attacks to target and strategically dismember their key body parts. Either collect their scrap currency or even loot the aforementioned part, and you're good to craft their equipment if you so wish.
We can't quite imagine it being as tough as a Dark Souls game, so perhaps The Surge could welcome newcomers to the genre with open arms. Either way, it's looking pretty good both in terms of its physical combat mechanics are a fairly convincing scrap graveyard.
