If you're heading into the Spring releases expecting to see some NieR Automata in your Steam library, you may have to quell those expectations. We could be looking at a delay.
Those those currently waiting on the title after maybe playing the original on a console being moving into PC gaming, you've probably already noticed that the game has been without a release date for some time.
So with the PlayStation 4 version certainly arriving on March 7 - after having a demo months ago - there's cause for concern when we realise how close that date is. There's little chance of the PC version going from no release date to a simultaneous one at this rate. Speaking on a recent live stream, NieR Automata producer, Yosuke Saito, further cemented the idea of the PC version not releasing at the same time as its console counterparts.

Whether we can technically call this delay is up for debate, but it's likely going to miss the simultaneous release most would have been hoping for. And it's for a few different reasons - the first being piracy. Claiming that the PC platform still has issues with rampant piracy, Saito mentioned that both Square Enix and PlatinumGames would need to look into a solution before releasing NieR Automata onto Steam. The second, and arguably best, reason boils down to PlatinumGames being uncomfortable with the last few shoddy PC ports and wanting to make sure it's handled correctly this time around.
Saito seems to think that it won't be long before his bullet-hell action game lands on Steam; but it's likely not going to be when the time most would have hoped for. We can at least get the demo, right?
