With Dauntless set to unleash Monster Hunter style gameplay onto PCs at some point this year, it's about time we started to take a look at what we'll be inserting our swords into.
Certain publications have had the change to go toe-to-toe with two of the destructive powers of Dauntless already in a wave of gameplay previews. In them, we've been two creatures put up a good fight - but there's now a third to research.
Joining the Shrike and Pangar featured in the last wave of gameplay footage, we're being introduced to Embermane. You can probably take a guess as to how it looks - but you'll probably be a little off the mark. While the beast certainly lives up to the Ember name, the Mane part doesn't strictly force this one into the lion-like appearance you'd expect. This spined boar-type creature can fan flames from its back and mouth while attempting to gore you and your allies or just opting to run you off the cliff's edge. Watch out for its screams, too. They're not handy.
Let's Take A Look At Dauntless - Phoenix Labs' Take On Monster Hunter - With Two New Gameplay Videos
With more information regarding its wider hoping to appear at PAX East toward to the end of month, we've see 3 of the 4 creatures initially teased through the Dauntless site at the time of its reveal back during the Video Game Awards last year. Once the gameplay videos started to trickle out, we were told playable test phases would start in an alpha state.
Eventually setting out to use a free-to-play format similar to League of Legends, there's either going to be a lot of customisation here, or a metric ton of weapon choices. We'll have to wait to hear more, but there's still a lot to read up about when it comes to the game's growing lore.
