Allowing their would-be players control over their first game was one thing, but Stoic eventually decided to go the self-funding way for Banner Saga 2. Missing the mark, they're turning back to the watchful eyes of player's cash to finish the trilogy.
We were told to expect more soon after their interview with GameIndustry.biz; and here we are. Adamant that the slowed sales of their last game wouldn't impact their ability to finish off a tale they opted to spin into three arcs from the get-go, Stoic are looking for some more money to wrap things up.
Of course, they're not just looking for fans to open their wallets for nothing. Those pledging enough toward the $200,000 goal are more or less slotting themselves in with a pre-order that takes the green more or less immediately rather than 'when it ships'. It just helps to get things out of the door. Other bonuses include t-shirts, your name in the credits, customised Start Screens and that warm fuzzy feeling of throwing cash at something you won't see for at least around 2 years.
Stoic Admits They "Dropped The Ball" With The Banner Saga 2 - But The Trilogy Will End
Taken straight from the Kickstarter page, the developers explain the game the best: "Picture the classic tactical strategy games of your childhood but refined for the modern age. It's not about grinding to get past the next fight. Every encounter, every decision you make has heavy and sometimes far-reaching consequences. It throws you into the end of the world and asks,"how do you deal with this? Banner Saga 3 is aimed at people who appreciate art, story and strategy.
Banner Saga 3 is pencilled in for a December 2018 launch - and should manage its efforts. Already half way through its Kickstarter goal, there's plenty of people hoping to see the end of this strategy hit.
