Still considered to be in Open Beta, Hi-Rez's Overwatch rival 'Paladins' recently received patch number 42. Hardly lending itself to speculation, here's what it brings.
Bringing with it the 'Keep of Knowledge', Paladins has a fresh new face. New as in new to the game, however. It's an old man. Torvald is that man.
Still plugging their Top 10 'Beta Expectations' forum post from 2015, it's obvious they're sticking to their idea of consistently updating a game through every phase of its development. There isn't much in the way of a fleshed out bio for its new mage-style hero, but there's detail of his abilities out in the field.
Hi-Rez COO Explains How Paladins Took More Inspiration From Global Agenda Than Overwatch
Torvald - The Runic Sage makes use of some strange and mystical powers to disarm his foes and protect his allies from harm. Like most heroes within the Paladins meta, his standard ability dishes out some light pain with a channeled beam locking on and burning its target every .1 second. Outside of that, he's able to regenerate his shield or sap that of his opponents. His main ability it to throw a shield out to another ally while he himself silences and disarms would-be attackers for a short time. Should things get a little close for comfort, his E ability will push away any nearby attackers a considerable distance.
But it isn't all about him. Patch 42 brings the Tank it to the Limit weekly PvP event and raises the level cap from an already staggering 500 to 999. Pip gains a new weapon, and there's plenty of map and character tweaks to go around. You can read more about those here.
