If the rush of shooters didn't phase your genre of choice over the Holiday period, you're probably still getting some worth out of Civilization VI. Usually a likely candidate for a number of expansions down the line, there's one other thing players are looking out for.
Other than more fleshed out content in paid expansions, players are still hoping that mod tools will surface for the legendary strategy title. And they will. Eventually.
Though plenty of players have shown that is isn't always necessary to use official modding tools to have their way with the latest Sid Meier game, that isn't to say they'll have to use that method forever. Reassuring fans during a recent livestream event, Firaxis has stated that they're still working on official mod tools and Steam Workshop integration on top of the requested multiplayer teams.
Civilization VI Renaming Cities - Option Might Arrive In A Future Patch
There's still no word as to when these additions will arrive, but they're not completely dead just yet. Of course, it's likely more important for the dev team to get out more expansion - as that's not only their main source of revenue going forward, but it's the type of content that will please a broader section of its current audience. It shouldn't always be left up to the fans to make the game their own by essentially making the game, so it wouldn't be surprising to see something new show up before mod tools become a fleshed out product.
Civilization VI has been out on the market for around 3-4 months now, but due to its patchy update schedule, our update summary is still relevant to this day.
