The Dreadnought boss in Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor, lurking within the Crystalline Caverns, presents a tough challenge at the beginning of the game, and will be encountered during the final fifth wave.
After several attempts to defeat the Dreadnought, we’ve developed our approach and put together some tips to assist you in overcoming this challenge and completing the sector, especially if you’re finding it difficult.
Tips to defeat the Dreadnought in Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor
Using the Gunner Class is more effective due to its superior attack power, although the Scout can dodge and mine faster. However, this advantage becomes less critical in the fifth wave if you prepare an area in advance to easily dodge the Dreadnought’s attacks.
If you remain in its path, the Dreadnought will leap at you, potentially depleting a significant portion of your health, often ranging from 70 to 80 hit points. When the Dreadnought pauses just before leaping, this signals the moment for you to move either right or left to evade its attack. Don’t try to outrun the attack by moving forward, always turn and change direction.
In the final wave of any sector, it’s advisable not to spend time mining precious resources if you can avoid it. At this stage, doing so will only slow you down when the Dreadnought makes its appearance, which occurs after you’ve destroyed all the eggs on the map.
Instead, use this time to clear a path and excavate as much rock as possible, aiming to create a spacious area for evading swarms and the Dreadnought. We crafted a loop around the map with pathways leading into its center, ensuring ample space for retreat from challenging situations.
If defeating the Dreadnought is your primary objective in the sector, we suggest investing most of your gold and resources into upgrading your weapons. Equipping an ice elemental attack on your weapon can significantly slow down swarms and the Dreadnought, offering a considerable advantage during combat.
Employ these tactics and tips, and with some practice, defeating the Dreadnought should become achievable. Success hinges on understanding its attack patterns and ensuring you have adequately cleared space to create your arena within the allotted time.
