Dying Light isn’t just hungry for tasty survivor meat anymore as mods are now on the menu. Things may have started out a little shaky but Techland are putting the shuffling horde back on track with some serious modding tools still being worked on. That hasn’t stopped the PC community from already clawing away at the city of Harran and its dwindling population to mix things up.
Ideas may have started small, like switching film grain off, but now there’s a creative current running through the Dying Light mod scene. The trouble is separating the wheat from the chaff, and so we’ve taken a look at some of the more feisty community offerings; things that’d make a zombie-loving mad scientist blush.
Description: If you’ve been annoyed with the grain/noise effect that is present in Dying Light, perhaps this mod from fireundubh will ease your pain? This mod removes that effect so you don’t have to be bothered by it anymore!
Description: If you don’t like zombies getting too close you should try this mod from Owlbie, which drastically increases the range of all your melee weapons, so you can hit zombies from far away. It’s essentially a cheat, but we’re sure you can still have fun with it.
Description: Another fun little mod this one. If you want to go on a rampage blasting as many zombies as you can then this mod from Altterium should help you a great deal. It allows you to carry up to 999 bullets for each type of gun.
Description: The SweetFX Mod from DragoncrestPC improves the visuals and removes the yellow / green filter.
Description: The grappling hook is a useful tool in Dying Light, but do you find it annoying having to wait for it to recharge after use? User The Iron Rose did, so they’ve created a modification that allows unlimited uses in addition to doubling its length.
Description: Finding Dying Light a little bit too easy? This mod from DonDevon1988 overhauls the difficulty, so much so that you’ll probably end up dying all the time. Only recommended if you’re up for a challenge!
Description: Here’s another little neat mod that adds a bit of difficulty to the game. TomL93 has removed the Volatiles and Virals icons from the radar, so you won’t be able to see if any zombies are nearby. Might need an extra pair of pants for this mod! You’ve been warned.
With the modding floodgates now open there’s going to be no shortage of unique and bizarre Dying Light games cropping up, especially once those official modding tools get released hopefully alongside Steam Workshop support. Let our readers know what mods you’ve been playing in the comments area!
