Are you enjoying Gran Turismo 5? Have you ever dreamed of what it would be like to be a REAL pro racing diver? Do you want a chance for that dream to come true?
… wait, what? No? Are you sure? I mean think about it. You get to drive around in a Nissan, and all you need to do is do what you’re doing anyway - play GT5! What do you mean you don’t have it? Why not!? Have you not read our rev- … oh wait, there isn’t one. Good point.
Well, not that I’m much of a racer, but I get the feeling it’s a bit of alright… good graphics, good feel to it… AI could be better and there’s an hour long install though. Other than that, it’s all good.
The GT Academy
So, Sony Computer Entertainment America and Polyphony Digital, in partnership with Nissan North America, have come to together to give you yanks a very special opportunity.
The GT Academy is a chance for gamers to test their prowess, not only in being one of the top Gran Turismo players in the US, but also a chance to win the once in a lifetime opportunity to become a real professional racing car driver.
Now I know what you’re thinking - I prefer Vauxhall as well, but this is a pretty sweet competition. You Americans always get the best stuff, I tells ya. Still, this makes up for the fact that you guys couldn’t compete in more recent EU-only competitions, so fair’s fair I guess.
I’d love to say that this is something we’re doing, but it’s not - this is being run by one of our sponsors, so you will need to go to an external website to register. Like I’ve said before, sites like us don’t just run on love and kisses.
What You Need to Know
So, here’s what you need to know in order to enter the competition. As far as rules go, the important bits are:
* You must have a valid US PSN ID
* Access to, or ownership of, a Playstation 3 console and a valid retail copy of Gran Turismo 5
* You must be 18 years of age or older
* We assume being a US resident helps as well, for any of you thinking you can work around getting a fake US PSN ID or something.
The rest of the official rules can be read here.
There is an FAQ here.
And finally, to register, you need to go here. Registration has already started, and ends on January 23rd. You’ve not missed out on anything by registering late.
Competing
Competing in this tournament is handled via a number of exclusive time-trials and race events that participants will be given access to once they’ve registered. These are broken up into four geographical regions, so from the looks of things you’ll get different tasks depending on where in the US you live. You’ll be given more information once you enter
That’s all from us - there’s plenty more information on the GT Academy Website, and you can also follow them on Facebook for the latest news and information.
Good luck! And Merry Christmas
