Honkai: Star Rail, the latest offering from Genshin Impact developer HoYoverse, marks the first time the team has brought its turn-based RPG franchise to consoles. Genshin Impact has been a tremendous success story for HoYoverse, and it appears that the team has managed to attract a new and larger fanbase to the previously lesser-known series. Pre-registrations currently stand at an impressive 8 million players.
Recently, it was revealed that Honkai will be available on PlayStation consoles and PC, which explains the vast number of players. However, does Xbox fit into the picture? Here’s everything we know about whether Honkai: Star Rail is coming to Xbox platforms.
Is Honkai: Star Rail Coming to Xbox Platforms?<h/2>
Currently, there seem to be no plans for Honkai: Star Rail to release on Xbox platforms. The game is slated for release on PC, Epic Games Store, iOS, and Android on 26th April, with the PlayStation version arriving later. miHoYo has enjoyed a successful relationship with Sony through Genshin Impact, which has yet to reach Xbox even three years after its initial release.
miHoYo has previously addressed its relationship with Sony and explained why PlayStation is currently the only console hosting Genshin Impact. Essentially, this is due to Sony's support for Genshin Impact when it was first announced, as they approached miHoYo to discuss a console version of the game. No such conversation appears to have occurred with Microsoft, and to date, it doesn't seem like there have been extraordinary efforts to bring Genshin Impact to Xbox.
Similar to Genshin Impact, the decision to bring Honkai: Star Rail to Xbox likely lies with Microsoft. The fact is that Xbox holds a considerably smaller demographic share compared to PlayStation in Japan. Ultimately, it could be a matter of numbers or the possibility that Honkai: Star Rail may not be the right fit for the console and its audience. That's all we know about whether Honkai: Star Rail is coming to Xbox platforms.
