The freedom that players get when it comes to completing quests is one of the things that make Baldur’s Gate 3 so enjoyable. Although the maps are somewhat linear in the game, you can progress through your objectives or quests however you see fit, allowing you to skip certain bosses or utilize other ways to escape and proceed to your next quest.
So, if you want to skip fighting Kethering Thorm in the Moonrise Towers, either because you’d like to save your resources or finish the quest as soon as possible, you can. In this guide, we’ll walk you through how to get to the Oubliette without fighting Ketheric Thorm in BG3.
How to Get to Oubliette Without Fighting Ketheric Thorm in BG3
There’s a way to bypass fighting Ketheric Thorm to get to the Oubliette, which involves a little bit of lockpicking. For this, you’ll first need to head straight to Abdoslute’s Door, the one in the middle to trigger Ketheric Thorm’s introduction cutscene.
Next, make your way to the upper floor, where you’ll be tasked to help Balthazar in the Gauntlet of Shar. To help you do the mission, Disciple Z’rell will allow you to access Balthazar’s Room. From there on, you can head outside to find a door that leads to Ketheric Thorm’s room.
You’ll need to pick the lock open to enter Ketheric Thorm’s room. If you succeed, an undead dog will confront you. However, there’s no need to panic. All you need to do is persuade the dog not to attack you, and you can go to another door to access Ketheric Thorm’s wife’s room beside his room.
As soon as you enter Ketheric Thorm’s wife’s room, find a dangling root to access the ceiling and then keep walking towards a crack in the wall. Make sure to use the interact button and choose the dialogue that suggests you gave in, and the Absolute pulled you through the wall, resulting in you falling into the Oubliette.
And that’s how you get to the Oubliette without finding Ketheric Thorn. It’s quite a lengthy process, but worth it if you’d like to proceed with your quest quickly.
