What is the role of the Scuffed Rock in Baldur’s Gate 3? Throughout your journey in BG3, you will stumble upon numerous puzzles and obstacles that need resolution for game progression. While some puzzles in the game may be fairly straightforward or depend on the luck of a Perception check roll, others can appear dauntingly complex and challenging to solve.
The Scuffed Rock is a prominent example of an obstacle that may pose a puzzle to players. If you’re wondering how to move or utilize the Scuffed Rock in Baldur’s Gate 3, this guide is here to help. The Scuffed Rock puzzle is an early challenge in BG3, hiding a valuable treasure chest filled with unique items that can significantly enhance your character’s abilities.
Baldur's Gate 3 Scuffed Rock Location
The Scuffed Rock is located in a beach area at the beginning of the game. After successfully escaping the Mind Flayer’s ship, head to the small path along the beach. There should be a small gap that you can jump over, and you should be able to notice the Scuffed Rock nearby. You can check out the images above as a waypoint to help you locate the rock.
The scuffed rock requires a significant amount of strength to be moved. You’ll need a character in your party with a high enough Strength attribute to attempt moving it. Lae’zel or Karlach are great options for this.
Once you control a high-strength character, hold your left mouse button on the scuffed rock and drag it away. The rock should now be out of the way, allowing you to loot the Harpers’ treasure box underneath it.
Looting the treasure box will give you the following items:
- Harper's Map
- Harper's Notebook
- Ruby
- Potion of Speed (x2)
- Gold (x13)
- Malachite
