The Resident Evil 2 Remake is out right now, and it's one of the best games of the year already. One problem you'll always come across though is have too many items and too little inventory space. However, with our Resident Evil 2 Remake Discard Items guide we should be able to help.
You'll always be fighting against the limited inventory space, but you may have missed when it's fine to discard an item. You have the option at all times, but when can you safely discard items? You definitely won't need them again... right? We've got the answers.
Resident Evil 2 Remake Discard Items - When Can You Safely Throw Away Items?
If you're exploring the inventory you may notice the 'Discard' option next to every single item in the game. While there are Item Chests around the game so you can store every item you need, do you really need to keep all of them? Why is that Discard option there if you can't use it? At some points you won't have an Item Chest close by, so can you safely throw away items?
First of all, to make it clear: if you discard an item, it doesn't drop to the floor and you can pick it up again later. If you discard something, it's gone forever. If something's useful or you just don't need it right now, put it in the item chest.
However, there are times when you can safely discard certain items. The game tells you this, but you may have skipped through the tutorial or turned them off and missed it. Basically, once a quest item is no longer useful, it will get a little red check/tick mark next to it in your inventory.
For example, if you have the Heart Key and you've unlocked all the Heart Doors, you no longer need the key ever again. It'll get a red tick by it - and now you can safely select that Discard option! Don't worry - it's absolutely guaranteed that you will never need it again.
On the other hand, never discard items like herbs, health items, gunpowder or ammo. Store them in an Item Box, or just don't pick them up at all - they'll show up on your map and you can pick them up later when you need them. You cannot put any item down again once you've picked it up.
