Should you free Dolly Dolly Dolly the pixie in BG3? If you’ve played Baldur’s Gate 3 long enough, you know how hard it is to trust just anyone in the game. Be it a suspicious-looking Ox trying to make its way into town or someone asking your help to avenge a “murderer,” not everything is as it seems.
In the game, Dolly Dolly Dolly is a pixie trapped in a magical lantern. In case you’re unaware, pixies are generally famous for being little mischievous creatures who have no problem pulling pranks on travellers. So, would it be a good idea to release Dolly Dolly Dolly the pixie? Or should you leave her there?
Should You Free Dolly the Pixie in BG3?
When venturing the Shadow-Cursed Lands in Act 2, you must always carry a light source to avoid taking damage from the shadow curse. In this case, the Moon Lantern is what you’re looking for, as it emits a powerful light to help you find your path.
However, soon, you will learn the truth that the Moon Lantern glows because a pixie is trapped in it, forcing it to emit light. Dolly Dolly Dolly the pixie begs you to free her, but should you?
This comes down to your preference, but there are some benefits you can get from letting her go. Choosing to let go of Dolly Dolly Dolly will lead her to thank you and then give you the “Filigreed Feywild Bell.”
When you use this item, she will appear and provide you with the ability to see through the darkest areas of the Shadow Curse, regardless of where you are. This is essentially the same effect you get from using the Moon Lantern, except it doesn’t take up your character’s weapon or torch slot.
In addition to that, the bell is a permanent item, meaning that you can keep using it no matter how far you are into the game. If that’s not enough, your kindness to her will be carried over to other quests involving a different pixie.
You can also choose not to free her for story purposes, although this will occupy your weapon slot when using the lantern. However, you can still free her later if you decide to change your mind.
