The features of this mod are best enjoyed when playing as the Empire. A handful of new mechanics are added, most of which trigger or get interesting as your imperium starts falling apart. State of the Empire tracks how many provinces you've lost - the more regions you keep safe, the more your citizens trust you, however the greater the danger, the better your standing will be with the electors. The other features are branching choices which trigger every set number of turns, while others affect diplomacy. A handful of incidents are also added, some of which can be encountered by other factions too.
