To compliment Steam, Valve is now finally ready to unleash Steam Cloud which will let gamers keep record of their configurations settings and some other data online.
This will let Steam users download both their games and their favourite settings so you won’t need to muck about fiddling with sliders and hotkeys; saved games too eventually.
Right now you can install your games from the Steam service on any PC so the Steam Cloud service just adds to convenience. Unfortunately saved games aren’t able to follow you just yet but Valve’s Doug Lombardi has said they will ”in a future update,” speaking with Edge.
This new feature service is being made applicable to the back catalogue of games on Steam and will be made available freely to all developers and publishers of Steam titles.
Valve president Gabe Newell said Steam Cloud ”makes it easy to upgrade a PC without worrying about losing your games. … We intend to expand its feature set as it is used in Left 4 Dead and other games coming to Steam.” I smell a Nobel Prize winner!
