The Capcom shareholder report for fiscal year 2008 has revealed a new strategy for the game maker. While Capcom has previously published titles exclusively for one home console system like the Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3, from now on the company says that ”All major titles launched during the next fiscal year or thereafter will be developed as multi-platform games”.
In addition to ending the console exclusivity Capcom also revealed that they will be developing for the PC. The report states that Capcom is interested in “increasing Capcom fan-base with mobile games and PC games” in addition to its traditional console offerings.
Capcom will pursue this new strategy by taking advantage of a new in-house tool called “MT Framework”. This tool makes it possible to “share technologies, information and reduce development time and cost states” the report. This tool has been used in the development of Devil May Cry 4 and Resident Evil 5.
