It’s actually been nearly two months since the news ‘technically’ broke that the game was canned but, well, no one really noticed or cared at the time it seems.
Apparently a ”misfire at the start” caused the dev team problems with the adaption of Games Workshop’s board game creation, whom the rights have returned to now.
Posting on the official boards, Capcom’s Sven said that they had ”finally stopped development completely.”
”After a misfire at the start, the details of which I won’t get into, we evaluated several options for moving the project to new developers, but the costs of moving forward outweighted the potential revenue. I realize this will be disappointing for the fans of the game.”
”The rights have reverted back to Games Workshop where I hope someone will pick them up and try again. I too still would like to play a Talisman videogame,” he concluded.
Well, erm, goodbye Talisman. Two months have passed… has anyone managed to summon a single atom of ‘care’ for this canned project? Probably not.
The board game has players battling monsters until they’re powerful enough to venture inward and toward the centre of the board. The ultimate goal is to fire off a rather powerful spell that kills the other players; just their game pieces though and not the actual person - pity that.
