The new design of heat sink will increase heat dissipation but also weigh lighter than the previous generations used for the PS3 console.
Furukawa Electric Co, a Japanese company, has showcased their new design as smaller, much lighter and cheaper than its predecessors.
The CPU and graphics hardware will be cooled by these new heat sinks, two small instead of one large slab of sink will be used. The first iteration weighed in at 700g, the second at 500g and now the third at 350g.
The new line from Furukawa is in development now so the new PS3 models should hopefully be available within a few months time if everything runs smoothly.
