In an interview with 1up.com Gabe Newell, co-founder of Valve Software, spoke about the possibilities of a port of Left 4 Dead to the PlayStation 3. While no port or even plans for any conversion were confirmed, Newell didn’t shoot down the idea either which leaves room for speculation on a port of the title.
When asked if he was holding off on a PS3 version of the game Newell responded, “We don’t have the bandwidth. For The Orange Box, EA did the PS3 version. They’re interested in getting a PS3 version done. We just have to figure out where the resources can come from. We don’t have the bandwidth. We’re doing the 360 and PC version ourselves”.
In follow up questions Newell added that the companies that has licensed Valves Source engine would like to see PS3 conversions and that “over time, Valve will be directly more and more supporting the PS3 as our bandwidth allows us to.”
