The free-to-play and ad-supported Battlefield Heroes is getting pushed back to a release later this year to better focus on ”social networking features” they say.
The first person shooter set in the Command & Conquer universe – Tiberium – is now expected to slate sometime between 2009 and 2010. No word on why though.
During an investor conference call, EA CEO John Riccitiello revealed that EA Dice’s Battlefield Heroes would be ”launching at the end of the calendar year.”
”We decided to increase its focus on some of the social networking features,” he said. ”The last thing we want to do is jab it in the marketplace.”
On the Tiberium front, the game was expected to release late this year but with a no show at EA’s E3 conference it looks as if they’re far from done with it. The game is set in the C&C universe and players take the role of a commando around the timeline of Tiberium Wars, the third full instalment in the GDI - Nod war.
Battlefield Heroes is being released exclusively on PC, while Tiberium is being released on Xbox360, PS3 and PC.
