Thomas Vu, a producer on Spore, told CNET that their hotly anticipated life simulator will be ”gold” in about a week. The game is dated for September 7th.
EA’s Ricitello has revealed that Spore is likely to evolve into a publishing label much like The Sims. He also noted that game is likely to have multiple expansion packs too.
”We’ve got a clear, obvious and very compelling post-launch monetization opportunity,” Ricitello explained during a conference call. ”This is a game where basically, the parts are what make the sum of the product work.”
This ”monetization opportunity” is likely referring to micro-transactions offering more creature, vehicle and buildings parts for a small fee to gamers for example.
”Job one is to make the launch successful,” he stressed, ”and making sure we have the right to ask that question down the road.”
If the success of the Creature Creator is anything to go by then Spore itself will truly be Will Wrights greatest – and possibly hardest to top – videogame ever.
Spore is being released exclusively on PC this September.
