EA CFO Eric Brown, the one in charge of monies, has proclaimed the PC platform to be ”very rapidly” becoming top dog for gaming.
The publisher also released more titles on PC than any other platform last fiscal year, which ended March 31st. This surge is down to the growth of digital distribution muses EA.
”This is a big year for us,” said Brown. ”The online part of our business is growing as much as 60 percent year over year.” CEO Riccitiello said total digital revenue had risen to $400m for the company in fiscal ‘09.
”In terms of distribution, the way we look at a lot what’s happening in the future is, we’ve got probably a billion PCs out there in the world,” he continued. ”Very rapidly the PC is becoming the largest gaming platform in the world, just not in a packaged-good product.”
In total EA released 32 PC titles in FY09, 26 on Xbox 360, 23 for PS3, 22 DS, 21 Wii titles, 14 PS2, 8 PSP and 1 lone Xbox game. The days of ‘the PC is dying’ are, erm, dead I guess.
