The announcement of PlayStation 3’s motion controller was more about the technology itself than unveiling a product or game says SCEA’s Peter Dille.
The current ”form factor” of the PS3 wand is just a prototype model, though it’s certainly ”representative” of what it will be. The end design ”will have buttons” and a trigger.
”We’re announcing the technology, not the product or game,” Dille told Kotaku during E3.
”…the form factor of the wand is a prototype. I think it is representative of what the product will include. In other words, it will have buttons. It will have the ability to have a trigger if you’re having that style of game.”
Much like Microsoft’s Project Natal, Sony’s motion system doesn’t have a set date to be launched around the world yet, though both are expected to have something possibly by Fall next year. The PS3 wand combines with the PlayStation Eye to deliver its functionality.
