Media giant Warner has put the weight of its 20% stake in Eidos, which is over 52.5 million shares, behind the bid made by Square Enix for the company.
This tallies the total number of shares behind the move to 96 million, but Warner does retain the right to change their mind if a higher bid comes in, even if from themselves.
Square Enix and Warner Bros have been dancing around Eidos for quite the while now and it looked as if Time Warner was the lead Romeo but now they support Square’s bid for Eidos.
The momentum of backing for the move is steadily growing so it looks like Square Enix will finally have a strong foothold in the West for exploring European and North American markets better.
