Running until September 10th, fans who want the new Championship Manager 2010 can pre-order the digital download for as little as one pence, if you so choose.
Of course there is a matter of the GBP 2.50 transaction fee, but otherwise it’s dirt cheap. It’s a ”first time” for the industry says general manager Roy Meredith; pay want you want.
”This is the first time an initiative like this has ever been tried in the videogames market,” said Meredith. This echoes Radiohead’s sale of their album In Rainbows, where they let consumers decide how much they wanted to pay.
”This is the best Championship Manager the studio has ever made and we want as many people as possible to try the full new game as once they try it we’re convinced they will come back again and again.” It’s a gamble, and Eidos hope the new breed will get you hooked.
Championship Manager 2010 will be available for download via the site on September 11th.
