Funcom are bringing their first expansion to Age of Conan, and it promises to be ”a strong addition” they say. It’s on show at GamesCom and called ‘Rise of the Godslayer’.
It’s all about opening up the Empire of Khitai which isn’t doing so well ever since a young Conan slayed their Elephant God a while back. It’s a ”whole new perspective” on Conan lore.
”Since the turn of the year the team has been working hard on bringing the Empire of Khitai to life,” said Craig Morrison, Game Director and Executive Producer on Rise of the Godslayer.
”Our focus now is on expanding on the strengths of the game by providing massive new regions of the world to explore, and the Empire of Khitai offers a whole new perspective on the Conan lore and universe.”
”‘Age of Conan’ has evolved leaps and bounds since its launch last year, and we are making sure to build on the existing qualities and expand them further with the brand new content and gameplay in ‘Rise of the Godslayer’.”
Players will experience this Empire as it starts to spiral out of control, no thanks to Conan putting their Elephant God six feet under during his younger, wilder days.
”Development on ‘Rise of the Godslayer’ is progressing very well, something gamers can see and experience for themselves this week,” revealed Funcom’s CEO Trond Arne Aas.
”We have the game up and running on the showfloor at GamesCom, and we encourage everyone there to come visit us and give the expansion a try. We believe ‘Rise of the Godslayer’ will be a strong addition to the ‘Age of Conan’ brand.”
Age of Conan enjoyed a huge start but its numbers began to dwindle shortly after, with Funcom scrambling to address issues raised by subscribers. Now after some much needed improvements the MMO seems to be finding its stride. Have you visited Hyboria?
