Bethesda’s Pete Hines has revealed the existence of a new Fallout game, one that’s not being handled by them but Obsidian Entertainment.
The Alpha Protocol dev will be releasing the new entry into the series next year on multiple platforms. No juicy details were given, except it’s much closer in location to the original games.
The teams at Obsidian have a penchant for RPG, having taken on Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic 2 and Neverwinter Nights 2 from BioWare, with an upcoming action-RPG called Alpha Protocol.
Hines made the announcement at a press event in London, where it seems Bethesda will be sticking with the responsibility of producing a sequel title themselves. Hopefully more will be revealed on this New Vegas at E3 in June.
Given Obsidian’s continuity when it comes to undertaking projects with someone else’s intellectual property, it’s more than likely the developer will use an engine very similar if not the same as Fallout 3.
