Once Final Fantasy XIII breaks free from its Japan only release window, Microsoft expects it’ll whop Sony’s PS3 numbers around the globe.
The corporate giant is also salivating at the idea Resident Evil 5 is going to outperform on the Xbox 360 too. Microsoft is buoyed by recent NPD figures showing the PS3 losing traction.
”We’re happy with the performance of Street Fighter IV on Xbox 360,” said a Microsoft spokesperson, reports GameSpot. ”It follows in the steps of franchises like Grand Theft Auto and Madden NFL which have historically been associated with PlayStation, that are now selling better on our platform.”
Final Fantasy is about as traditional a PlayStation game as you could get, could Microsoft really score such a massive coup?
Final Fantasy XIII is being released sometime this year in Japan, with everywhere else waiting until 2010.
