No date has been given yet as developer Relic announce a ‘Last Stand’ mode for the real-time strategy title, which has three fighters stand against 20 waves of foe.
The first few waves are ”little danger”, but things soon ramp up to ‘considerable’. From there it descends into the ”vast majority” failing, with but a ”tiny few” managing to stay the course.
As you might have guessed this is a multiplayer mode, and Relic hope to woo solo campaigners online with promise of brag rights. Your characters carry with them experience and items earned from each match, but you’ll start at zero if you pick another class.
Think of it as an instance event from an MMO; you can resurrect each other too. You can choose three different characters - a human Tactical Marine, an eldar Farseer and an orc Mekboy.
THQ and Relic plan to unleash more DLC of this calibre to help combat piracy, and to keep adding value to the purchased game. Does ‘Last Stand’ sound like your kind of crazy?
