Last week’s launch of StarCraft II from Blizzard saw 1.5m copies sold within the first 48 period, becoming the fastest selling strategy title.
It released in 11 languages and on 5 continents to ensure ”as many players as possible” could get their hands on it and ”play on day one.”
It cleared over 1m copies its first 24 hours and 1.5m by the end of day 2.
”We launched StarCraft II in 11 different languages and on five different continents because we wanted to make sure as many players as possible were able to log on and play on day one,” said Blizzard CEO and co-founder Mike Morhaime.
