CEO Farrell wants us to ”see what we are seeing” as the Warhammer 40k MMO comes together - they will ”fully unveil it.” No release date.
”You will understand our excitement over it then,” Farrell told investors, referring to Warhammer 40k’s MMO debut at this year’s E3. So far only some early concept work has been released for the project, and that was in December.
”The highest ranking revenue opportunity for us clearly is the Warhammer 40k MMO,” he said in a February fiscal call, reports VG247. “I encourage you to come by and ’see what we are seeing’ at E3 when we fully unveil it”. THQ are very optimistic about the IP, hoping for 5 to 7 years of good business from the property with expansions.
“We are building this game right, so that’s why we have not announced a date yet,” said Farrell. “We need Beta tests, Closed Betas Open Betas, and as we get closer to finish we will talk more about it.”
“What we don’t need though, is one million subscribers just to make it profitable,” added CFO Paul Pucino. “If we even get near that number. Still, we’ll make a lot of money”.
EA operates a Warhammer MMO but it’s been beset with troubles like dwindling subscriptions, though EA Mystic has been overhauling the game some to entice new blood. Will a THQ led Warhammer 40k MMO fare better?
