Ignition is a bridge between Dead Space 1 & 2, where gamers must survive the Sprawl’s initial outbreak of Necromorphs. It’s like an ”interactive comic”.
This prologue to Dead Space 2 will be releasing on both Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network, though EA are yet to reveal if Ignition will also be arriving for the PS3 next week. The XBLA announcement came from Major Nelson.
Dead Space Ignition ”is the prologue to Dead Space 2, in which you must survive the initial Necromorph outbreak on the Sprawl. The game blends an interactive comic presentation of the story with three unique hacking games”.
Those mini games are Hardware Crack, System Override, and Trace Route. ”You’ll also receive unlocks in Dead Space 2, including an exclusive suit for Isaac Clarke. Can you survive the events leading up to Dead Space 2?” blurbs the description.
It’s meant to play out as a modern text-based adventure game, hence the comic book appearance. Dead Space 2 releases on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC January 28th.
