”As far as I’m aware,” says Greenberg, there won’t be a need for HDD with Natal. The Xbox 360 population is past 39 million globally.
”We think that there will be millions of Natals in consumer’s homes this holiday,” Greenberg told Joystiq. ”As far as I’m aware, there is no requirement for a hard drive,” he added.
The danger is for Xbox 360 Arcade units that couldn’t accommodate Natal’s need for 50mb, although Greenberg raised their NXE outreach initiative. They offer a free 512mb memory card or discounted hard drive.
”It’s kind of like the digital TV conversion you know,” he said, subsidizing the box. ”We did that with the New Xbox Experience because it did require some space and so we feel like now we’re in an environment where we feel like we’re fine.”
