They hit Xbox Live first on June 3rd for 1200 MSP, like the first map pack. The names are Carnival, Trailer Park, Fuel, Vacant and Strike.
Dates for the PS3 and PC release of the latest DLC haven’t been mentioned yet. Community man Robert Bowling has told Major Nelson in his latest podcast that new map Carnival is the one he’s ”especially excited for”.
Carnival is a desolate amusement park, of which the development team has been busy working on since November last year revealed Bowling. ”It’s just an awesome place to fight in,” he said. ”When you’re taking fire from a giant clown mouth it’s just awesome.”
Trailer Park is ”a good old American trailer park,” he added. It has very narrow and tight corridors to navigate between the mobile homes. ”It’s a maze,” and there’ll be plenty of shortcuts to take through abandoned trailers.
Fuel is a wide open space surrounding an oil refinery. ”Another sniper haven,” admitted the Infinity Ward developer. It splits into two main section with the first being an oil pump out in the open and the second an enclosed warehouse with interconnecting offices.
Vacant and Strike are remade maps from Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, with upgraded visuals, better atmosphere and ”a lot more detail”. The map layouts have been altered slightly to fit match modes in the sequel.
Are you a sucker for some extra map pack goodness for your Modern Warfare 2 career? The last pack sold like super hot cakes despite the hefty 1200 MSP price tag. It looks like this one may do just as well, or at least that’s what Activision believe.
