The latest news concerning the project, which was most recently known as Battlefront Online under SOCOM Devs Slant Six, concerns GameSpy and a rumour claiming that they are going to host servers for the title.
This latest whisperings comes from the Battlefront Community forums, complete with a screenshot showing the supposed servers for PS3, PC, Wii & PSP. There is no 360 listing because apparently Microsoft doesn’t allow Gamespy to host servers for them.
Slant Six’s Battlefront project was canned after LucasArts realised it had a ”stacked 2011 schedule”, and so decided to drop the project when they found out it wouldn’t be ready for this year.
As for this latest rumour… well, I’ve had my heart broken one too many times now. Only time will tell if it’s true or not.
