The array of features will apparently cost less than GBP 50 annually, with talk of one free PSN title being given away each month to subscribers.
”If you work it out, PSN games cost an average of £6-9 each, so over a year you’re basically going to be breaking even,” said a high placed source, reports VG247. Sony would give away PSN titles by letting us choose from a range of ”two to four” each month.
Also included in this premium service package would be a streaming music application similar to Spotify, and is scheduled to be announced June 15th at the Sony conference. It’s believed to support running behind games.
There have been rumours also of a cross-game voice chat being held back for such a premium subscription service, but that’s not true. “I can tell you now, 100 percent, that that’s not the case,” continued the source.
“There’s nothing in the premium package which will gimp regular PSN users.” Does this mean then that multiplayer services for all PlayStation 3 games will continue to operate freely, unlike Xbox Live which requires Gold subscriptions?
Aside from PlayStation Move, this premium direction for the PlayStation Network is expected to feature heavily at Sony’s E3 show. If the premium package costs less than £50 a year and offers some decent stuff, like free PSN games, then surely it’s worth it?
