It of course still has ”a way to communicate” a hardware screw-up to you but ”red lights are not part” of the new system. Microsoft has ”learned a lot.”
”Now obviously, the box has a way to communicate to you if something has happened…but yes, three red lights are not part of our sequence of telling somebody something is wrong,” Microsoft Game Studios’ Corporate Vice President, Phil Spencer, told IGN.
”Obviously if you look at the success rate of the original 360s, we’re very proud of both the way the company stepped up to support the customers that we had as well as the success rate we have with the box today. I think we’ve learned a lot.”
”That learning has gone into the development of this box,” he said. One thing is for sure Microsoft has learnt we gamers don’t like the sound of jet engines spinning up in our game rooms, as the new slim Xbox 360 model is said to be real quiet.
It’s the end of an era with the curtains drawing on the RROD. Still I’m sure Microsoft can make us love to hate their new error message system just the same. Rock on!
