The site states, ”Notice anything in particular here? They all offer 100 dollars off the 160GB version of a PS3 console, is this a sign a 100 dollar price drop is coming our way next year officially? Sony could have told retailers and kept it under cover so Microsoft didn’t undercut them this holiday.”
Normally, when a publisher does this, it’s usually an indication of an official price slash; in Sony’s case, it would likely be announced at GDC in March or E3 in June. The worrisome thing is that even with the $100 rebates and the Move controller bundles, the PlayStation 3 could only muster 530K sales on the hottest sales day of the year, while the Xbox 360 and Wii sold 1.4M and 1.2M units.
Sony could also be clearing stock for a new PS3 SKU. Let us know what you think.
